Picture Day
Tuesday, May 29
Last weekend I went to my friend Mariko's house. The walls Wer。
covered with photos that she had taken, and I was impressed with them.
Itold her, “My photos are so boring. But yours are special and exciting.
How do you do that?"
“I like taking photos that show something that is just about to happen.
Then the pictures tell a story. I can show you if you like," said Mariko.
So we went to. the park to go “picture-hunting," as Mariko called it. We
looked for good pictures at a soccer game and got some photos of boats on
the river. It really was like hunting when we sat in the grass for twenty
minutes with our cameras pointed at a bird's nest. Finally, Mariko got a
wonderful picture of the mother bird just about to land there. All of the
baby birds' mouths were open as they waited for her to arrive.
Mariko also took a picture of two people who were practicing a dance.
She captured the moment right before the music started.
I took a picture that told a story, too. I was happy with it.
