When I was 24, I visited many countries to see famous
architectural structures, such as the Parthenon in Greece
and the works of Gaudi in Spain. I was overwhelmed by
the
energy
of such magnificent architecture.
This
experience encouraged me to design buildings that appeal
to people all over the world. At the age of 28, I opened my
office in Osaka.
Since then, I have been creating
architecture in tune with nature.
Such architecture
makes people feel that they are part of the environment.
Besides designing buildings, I have also been working
on campaigns to plant trees on bare mountains and
landfills. You may think that it is impossible for one
person to change the world. However, if we all work
together, we can restore the environment, which human
activities have damaged. When we realize that we are
also part of nature, we can be more sensitive and
considerate toward all living things.
