中3の英語です。 the channel portsとはどのような意味でしょうか？

名詞の前につく、a an the ってありますよね。　これってa an はつく名詞に具体的な数が表されている時　the は特に数は明確に示されていない時という解釈でいいんでしょうか？　英語があまり得意ではなく色々とこんがらがっています😭教えてください🙏
